Scraping (Gua-Sha)

What is Scraping?

Scraping is another ancient form of TCM treatment method in which the skin is being scraped, producing light bruising. Ox horn or jade may be used for scraping as it is believed that it enhances the "clearing heatiness" effect. In most modern practices, a ceramic or plastic piece with smooth edges is used to perform pressured long-strokes repeatedly, with mild friction over the skin, along the meridians.
