An Esoteric Shaolin Art -- SHAOLIN SOFT FIST  少林柔拳

 

Shaolin Soft Fist is a traditional internal strength exercise that is not common till recent years as it was considered an esoteric shaolin art. The practice of Shaolin Soft Fist helps enhance Qi (Life Energy) and blood flow throughout the Meridians of the body, unblocking any obstruction that may lead to illness or discomfort. Shaolin Soft Fist emphasizes on the concept of supple, unbroken strength, which accumulate to turn into a vigorous and powerful force. At the same time, it requires the practitioners to focus on the breathing and regulate it in coordination with soothing, graceful body movements. 

 

There are different ways of practising Shaolin Soft Fist, and it can be easily adapted for people of all ages and fitness levels, including seasoned athletes and those who have a sedentary lifestyle.

  • The gentle, low-impact, controlled movements put minimal stress to the joints and help provide a safe and effective way to relieve pain and stiffness of the joints.

  • The weight-bearing aspect helps build and maintain bone density. In addition, the multi-planar, multi-joint movements help train up muscles that are not normally used during daily activities.  With increased strength in these muscles, the risk of a fall is reduced.
